Leigh Hunt (1784-1859) was a British Romantic writer and a contemporary of Byron, Shelley, and Keats; his activities and influence also extended well into the Victorian period.  In addition to being one of the most outspoken and influential journalists in the age of the French Revolution, Hunt was a prolific prose writer and an innovative poet.  Hunt’s extensive correspondence reveals an intimate knowledge of literary, artistic, political, and religious ideas circulating in the first half of nineteenth-century Britain.  This digital collection aims to make both facsimile images and word-searchable transcripts of approximately 1,600 letters written by Hunt and his acquaintances available to scholars and the interested public.
