Our Ne^bors IOWA CITY ITBMS. The commencement exercises of the State University of Iowa were held Tuesday, June 14 on the campus grounds. HundredSf of people witnessed the long pro¬ cession of candidates who re¬ ceived their degrees 'from liie various colleges. We are proiid to know that among this largK; number, three were girls of out own race. Miss Golda E. Crutch- er, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. OUe Crutcher of East Nineteenth St. received her Bachelor of Arte degree, also her degree in educa¬ tion. Miss Crutcher is to be congratulated upon ner four year*s work at the university. She leaves an CKcellent record and we predict for her a very successful career in the future, Miss Etta J, Searcy, the daugh¬ ter of Rev. and Mrs. Searcy of East St. Louist 111, received her Bachelor of Arts degree. Miss Searcy spent her first three yeare at the university in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. She is a very capable young girl and plans to spend a |reat aeal of her time in Cuba in the interest of Mrs.. Anna Malone of the Paro col lege in St. Louis. Miss Lorena Suggs received her degree from the college of pharmacy. Miss Suggs also spent only her last year at Iowa, She being the first girl of our race to receive a degree from a professional college of the Uni¬ versity of Iowa. At present she will establish her business in St» Paul, Minn. state Historical Society of Iowa (Des Moines)
