University of Iowa School of Music Recordings Archive
1929/2019
The University of Iowa School of Music Recordings Archive is a growing digital repository of concert programs, audio recordings, and video recordings that document the vast musical and cultural heritage of the University of Iowa. Many recorded performances are of compositions sponsored by the University's Center for New Music, the only center of its kind worldwide, as well as other School of Music ensemble, faculty, student and alumni recordings and field recordings collected in Iowa by Harry Oster (1923-2001), a UI faculty member and noted folklorist. The collection also includes the archives of the University's former resident string group, the Stradivari Quartet. While access to certain items in this collection is available to the public, the entire collection is available to students, faculty, and staff affiliated with the University of Iowa.
