Forty-eight per cent of the women rejected did not meet army standards for eyesight. Thirteen per cent were too heavy for the WAAC requirements. Army officers said Thursday that 164 Iowa women were given physical examinations for the WAAC. Thirty-one, or 19 per cent of the total examined, were rejected. "That's as good a record or better than the men have," an officer said. Other Causes. Other causes for rejection were: Below minimum height, 9.6 per cent; pulmonary tuberculosis, 6.4 per cent; heart disorders, 6.4 per cent; ear, nose and throat defects, 6.4 per cent; teeth, 3.2 per cent; hernia, 3.2 per cent; bone and muscular disorders, 3.2 per cent.
