Flag ceremony for the WACs
Morning Register Des Moines, Iowa NOV FLAG CEREMONY FOR THE WAGS Govern Present tion Gift. Gov. Bourjve B. Hickenlooper of Iowa will present the official flag of the women's army corps to the WACs at Fort Des Moines Tuesday morning on behalf of the American Legion posts of the city and county. The flag is a gift from legionnaires to the WACs. Designed by a WAC, the flag is of forest green silk, centered with a gold - leaf head of Pallas Athene, WAC in-signe. Above the head are gold letters "First WAC Training Center" and below it "Fort Des Moines, Iowa." The ceremony will be on the fort parade grounds at 11 a. m. and accepting the gift will be Maj. Louise Milligan, director of the training center. After the ceremony the WACs will pass in review before Gover- nor Hickenlooper; Major Milligan; Dan J.
