Public Opinion Decorah, Iowa SEP 201944 Set New Quota In Recruiting- Nurses --------, A new quota ai 153 graduate nurses must be 'recruited from Iowa for the armed services before Jan. 1 next year, it was announced today by Bess O. Cunningham, chairman of the State Committee for Procurement and Assignment of Nurses, War Manpower Commission. In making the quota known, Miss Cunningham said that 9,000 nurses from the entire nation are needed to meet service requirements by the first of the year. She explained that this figure is equivalent to one-third of the total number of nurses graduating in 1944 and that Iowa's quota likewise represents one-third of the total student nurses expected to graduate in the state this year. The procurement chairman also stated that Iowa exceeded by 61 its quota of 92 nurses for the armed forces for the first six months. «of 1944. /
