Refusing to rest on the reputa-tio-' of her illustrious father, the late Robert R. Moton, former president of Tuskege institute, Tuskegee, Ala., Pfc. Moton made an early start at carving her own career. Born at Tuskegee, she attended high school there and then went on lo earn a bachelor degree in English and French from Hampton Institute. Hampton, Va. While ct Hampton, she arranged music and was accompanist for the creative dance group. She also wai ferrc-tary of the women's senate and a member of the Negro Historical •ociety. After graduation, she was successively research Assistant and secretary to an instructor at Hampton, director of music at Dil-lard high school, Qoldsboro. N. C, instructor of music and English at the county training school, Gloucester, Va., and traveling companion to her mother, who was administrative supervisor for the A. A. A. During her teaching career. Pfc. Moton served as volunteer music Instructor in the churches of Gloucester. She also was teacher-librarian and secretary of the Virginia State Teachers association. Pfc. Moton completed her basic traintpg in the Wac at Fort Dcs Moines and was assigned to army air bases at Walla Walla. Wash., and Wendover. Utah, before her present assignment in Sioux City. Here, she was a member of the public relations staff until a recent Official Arm* Air Tote** J'hoto Pfc. Jennie Dee Moton, acting librarian at the Sioux City army air base, is the daughter of Robert R. Moton, former president of historic Tuskegee institute. Tuskegee, Ala. After the war. she intends to go back to school and complete work already begun on her master's degree In music. reassignment made her acting base librarian. In addition to her regular duties, she plans most of the musical programs for her section. She also is iterested in sports, dramatics and discussion groups.
