Leaf from a Book of Hours, circa 1400
1400
15th century
France
This contains the end of the Seven Penitential Psalms and the beginning of the Litanies. Interestingly there is an added phrase between these two: "Parce domine parce populo tuo quem precioso sanguine tuo redemisti ne in eternum irascaris ei." This phrase also appears at the beginning of the Litanies in The Della Porta Hours, Tours & Bourges c.1478-1480, Copenhagen - The Royal Library - Ms. GkS 1610 4°. It may indicate that this Book of Hours was made according to either the Use of Tours or the Use of Bourges.
