Irish novelist, poet, and 1984 IWP resident Sebastian Barry reads an excerpt from his poetry collection, "The Rhetorical Town". He discusses the characteristic themes of his writing, such as metaphor and shifting points of view, and how they are reflections of overarching themes in Irish literature. Barry also reads two poems, "The Young" and "The Wrong Shoes", talks about his differing approaches to prose and poetry writing, and touches on his time spent at the International Writing Program.
Live From Prairie Lights was a live public radio program broadcast from Prairie Lights, an independent bookstore in Iowa City, Iowa. The program showcased new and established writers from around the world.
